This tool is designed to mount in a power drill or drill press, allowing the user to quickly return badly creased 20 gauge shotshell hull mouths to their original shape and diameter for reloading. This will make it easier for reloaders to seat components in the hull, as well as enable the user to change from a fold to roll crimp style (or vice versa).
Construction
This tool is a single drill bit-like shaft constructed from stainless steel, making it virtually impervious to rust, corrosion and wear. Based on the relative softness of plastic hulls when compared to metal, this tool should last virtually forever provided it’s not mistreated.
Installation
Installation consists of inserting the bit into a standard power drill or drill press.
Operation
The operator begins by sliding a spent hull over the bit, and activating the drill. Friction from the bit combined with pressure from the gradual increase in diameter will heat and reshape the hull to the proper size and shape. Due to it’s gauge-specific design, there is virtually no chance of over stressing the hull mouth.
MaterialsWorks with plastic shotshell hulls.
Summary
Resized and smoothed hull mouths allow for easier reloading, more consistent and concentric roll crimps, and more consistent ammunition.
