Hello folks,
Recently I’ve decided to implement a pre-order system for certain expensive, low-volume production tools. I know many people don’t like pre-orders (including me), so I’m going to take a moment to explain how they work and the rationale behind my implementing them.
Why Pre-Orders?
A handful of the tools I produce (mostly .410 or other less-common tools/gauges) simply don’t have as wide an appeal as would something for 12 gauge or even 20 gauge. Similarly some of my designs are very, very expensive to manufacture, making it necessary to produce them in quantities of 100+ in order to the keep the costs affordable for buyers. Like most people, I have a full time job and bills to pay; so while it’s not a big deal for me to stock large quantities of an item that sells quickly or is cheap to produce, I simply can’t afford to do that with something that costs $150 to make, or a year to sell out of. Lastly, there have been a number of instances recently where folks have assured me they were going to by XYZ good in XYZ quantity, only to welch on their commitment once they were made.
Are all your tools Pre-Order only?
Absolutely not! The overwhelming majority of goods I sell are stocked and ready to ship within two business days of purchase. The only items that will be pre-order only are those that are very expensive to produce, or sell in low volume. All pre-order items will be clearly marked as such to ensure there is no confusion. Likewise if you have any questions, you can always ask me and I’ll be happy to clarify.
How will Pre-Orders work?
Basically the item will be listed in the shop for $25 which will be a non-refundable deposit when ordering an item. This deposit will then be applied to the final total when the item is produced and ready to ship.
Why is the deposit non-refundable?
When commissioning the factory to produce my products, I have to pay up front. If 50 people assure me they’re going to buy item XYZ only to change their mind after I’ve had them produced, I’m out a lot of money. The deposit is non-refundable to ensure buyers are truly serious about purchasing the item they’ve ordered. If for any reason an item has been discontinued or cancelled, rest assured you will receive a full refund, but aside from that there will be no exceptions.
I already ordered a Pre-Order item at full price before you implemented this system, what happens now?
You will still hold your place on the wait list for that item and you will not be charged further when your order is ready to ship (you already paid!).
