Overview
This site came about as a result of my work on YouTube and The Reloader’s Network, where I regularly post videos on firearms, casting, and reloading. While my channel is primarily dedicated to how-to’s and product reviews, over time I started to post about different tools or experiments I was working on. Since that time, these videos have become some of my most popular and asked-about. Back in 2018 YouTube began deleting firearms content, including a number of my videos. This in turn made it difficult for viewers to follow along on the progress of my experiments and projects, resulting in a ton of email inquiries. While I do enjoy talking to fellow reloaders and firearms enthusiasts, it can be a bit of a struggle at times to keep up with all the questions. With that in mind, I decided to build a site dedicated to my various content in the hopes that it would make things easier and more accessible for folks interested in my projects.
Why design tools?
I’ve been a reloader for nearly two decades, and like any hobby it has it’s ups and downs. In my case one of the biggest challenges is that I live in Canada, where it’s often difficult (and expensive!) to get access to the tools, equipment and components I’m interested in. As the bulk of reloading products are produced in the United States, there’s comparatively little available in Canada. Many US manufacturers simply will not export their products to Canada, or do so through just one or two distributors who charge ridiculous markups. Likewise as much of what I’m after simply doesn’t have the mass-market appeal necessary for a large manufacturer to profitably supply, I’ve had to improvise. All these factors lead me to begin learning CAD and designing things for myself.
Purpose
As I mentioned above, it can often be very difficult to find the time to keep people informed of what I’m working on, how projects are progressing or where/when to find new content. Keeping that in mind, the goal of this site is simple; I want to centralize and link as much of my content as possible, as well as streamline the delivery of updates and news on my projects.
